Project objectives and assumptions
The "Center for Intercultural Dialogue" project was created in response to the growing need to manage migration processes in Europe. The project's main objective is to strengthen the competencies of Border Guard officers and third-country administration representatives in interpersonal and intercultural communication. Particular emphasis is placed on improving activities related to the implementation of border and administrative procedures, including return operations.
Implementing the project will enable the professionalization of Border Guard personnel. As the leading migration service in Poland and the European Union, they play a key role in contact with foreigners. Thanks to the Center for Intercultural Dialogue, activities can be tailored to the needs of third-country nationals, including those requiring special treatment, such as minors or victims of human trafficking. The project assumes that the knowledge and skills acquired will improve the quality and effectiveness of actions taken by other institutions involved in migration policy.
Significance and Impact:
The project has an international dimension. One of its key elements is the exchange of experiences with partners from third countries. Thanks to their participation in training courses, these partners will be able to implement learned solutions in their own countries. Transferring good practices for reintegrating children returning from emigration and strengthening reception systems in partner countries plays a special role here. Thus, the project supports the development of a coherent and effective approach to migration management that considers the perspectives of both host and origin countries.
The importance of the "Center for Intercultural Dialogue" extends beyond training. It is an initiative that establishes the basis for lasting changes in the organizational culture of services responsible for border protection and migration policy. The center will increase the level of cultural sensitivity and improve communication between officers and foreigners, resulting in more effective action by the services and greater respect for human rights.
The Role of WSSG
For the Border Guard Academy, this project is a strategic step in developing its educational and research offerings. Creating a modern Center for Intercultural Dialogue will reinforce the school's role as an institution responsible for preparing officers to work in an increasingly diverse world. The WSSG will provide officers and international partners with access to modern educational tools and methods and strengthen its position as a center for international cooperation and knowledge transfer in the field of migration and security.
